The history

Irriworks Ltd, formed in April 2006, is a company dedicated, since the beginning, to the implementation of tools and services applied to hydraulics and agriculture. After having participated and won in the competition of business ideas StartCup 2005 organized by the University of Palermo and have received favorable acclaim even during the final stages of the competition PNI (National Award for Innovation, Padova, 2005), currently the company is established inside of the consortium of firms Arca.

Irriworks's core business is the development and subsequent marketing of the software IrriPro based on an innovative algorithm that allows you to:

  • correctly size and verify irrigation systems of any size and geometry;
  • to safeguard water resources and save energy;
  • install systems on larger and larger extensions, where technicians need always faster and more precise tools;
  • respond to the request of irrigation techniques industrialization for developing countries with very limited water resources;
  • use technology to control (control unit and sensors) with the ability to automate, monitor and manage irrigation.

The company Irriworks in the early years, had the opportunity to make contacts with other Italian and foreign companies in particular related to the scope for cultivation and irrigation.

Irriworks attended Expobit 2007 (thematic area "Environment and Technology") in Catania, InnovAction 2008 in Udine and AgEng2008 international convention held in Crete in June 2008. During the presentation of their project "IrriPro, a Powerful software to graphic and hydrologic design of irrigation plants" received the award "for excellence in design and innovation in agricultural engineering".

More recently the company was committed, through collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture of Palermo, in consulting to the design of irrigation systems (project for the company of Maison Shalom in Ruyigi Nyamutobo in Burundi), in field investigations for validation of hydraulic models and testing of new surveying instruments.

The 7th August 2010 Irriworks has taken part in the exhibition "Italia degli Innovatori" at Expo 2010 Shanghai, state of art  of the technologic capability and of innovation of Italy.
The product Irripro, suggested by Irriworks, was selected by technical committee of "Italia degli Innovatori" which has decided on 265 projects. Irriworks was one of the 60 Italian companies that have attended the event. In this occasion Irriworks has received the award "selected innovator expo Shanghai 2010 " by Ministry of Education and Innovation.

Recently Irriworks has signed several agreements and partnerships with companies, associations and universities (italian and foreign).

The company has always pushed in the spread of its software in educational contexts allowing the free distribution of IrriPro at universities and research centers. Irriworks intends to maintain this choice in the future, given the feedback received.
The success achieved is confirmed by the numbers: more than 20,000 engineers and professionals use IrriPro as its design tool for their facilities.

IrriPro softwareIrriPro is available with FREEWARE license for small systems and with basic features, with fully featured for limited time or with never ending LIFETIME licenses.


IrriPro has a CAD-style user friendly interface, designed to be used by engineers, agronomists and other technicians. They have all the analisys tool needed to estimate the consequences of any design choice and to represent the trend of any physical parameter.


The DB is not a list of passive elements, but a way to make the most of the software using existing material on the market.


The irrigation software IrriPro is the only tool that optimizes the use of water and improves the distribution uniformity, increasing the system efficiency and ensuring the correct distribution of water and fertilizers. Moreover IrriPro reduces the system realization costs, improving quantity and quality of agricultural production.
